RE: Blocks for under the leveling Jacks.

We use hefty 2 x 10's about 12 inches square... That does the trick...
We also use the Lynx blocks on occastion.

RE: 08 onan gold 5500 - shutting down

I would put the wiring back to original and contact the manuf. and/or dealer. It should not be trippng. Even with a 15K and a 13.5K a/c. Its no different than running both roof units and the microwave at the same time.
Our 5500 runs both units fine. Even when boondocking with MW and both AC's as well as the coffee maker and elect. skillet...
Good luck and keep us posted.

RE: Carrier Remote Question

There is a verrry small reset button that is recessed into the battery compartment on teh remote itself. You will need a paperclip or a very thin ball point to do this. Put fresh batteries in and start pressing reset. If you have more than one A/C, you will only have one furnace. I have ours set up as A and B. A controls the furnace. I believe this info is in your owners manual. take a look there and see. I hope you get it worked out. Un-programmed remotes are a pain...
Good luck and keep us posted...

RE: Coffee pots!

hehe I join Gevalia every 2 years... Get a coffee pot for free and then I move the 2 yr old Pot to the MH. I like my free coffee. Just pay the 15.95 for the pot PLUS I get 2 coffees.
and not I don't work for Gevalia... Just like the deals!!! Oh and the coffee too... :P
Weather they track you by address or email, getting the second pot hasn't worked for me. So, what's your secret with getting more from them?
I have relatives that live down the street... ;)

RE: Quality Coaches

In no way do I think that my Damon is any less of quality than explained. In every vehicle, may it be a car, boat, TT, or pop up. Some times you get a clinker... Sometimes you don't. I on the other hand have not... We really enjoy our Damon immensely. Even made some Mods to avoid buying a new MH... My contacts wht Damon regarding ideas or little gotchas have been answered by the Company graciously. Damon is happy I bought their MH. *I* am happy I bought THEIR MH... Its a great relationship... If they made low class MH;s, why do I see so many of them??? Value by Design...

RE: tow vehicle

The Ford Edge is towable. Tows like a dream... I havent seen any others yet but I do tow ours effortlessly. Per the owners manual, Page 206, even the AWD version is 4 down towable. No fuses to pull. Just hook it up and go...

RE: It's ALIVE! (a little long)

Congrats!!! and welcome back to the road!!!
While you had the Rad out, the Waterpump off, *I* would have pulled the WP Cover and inspected/replaced the timing chain... Thats just me tho... Replace what I can reach when the big stuff is out of the way...
I hope gas at CostCo is cheaper where you are... the "Public" pumps here in STL are at 3.99 and up... We have been out each weekend in Washington MO and tend to find fuel cheaper there by about .16 per Gallon. Its doesnt sound like much but when you buy fuel in the quantities that we (RVrs) Do.. thats a big savings!!
Good luck and welcome back!!!!

RE: F53 chassis

Dford,
Thanks for the photo. I am bringing ours to the house today for a wash and wax. I'll take the extra 5 minutes to check the PB res. I have been under there a few times and have seen the plug. Now I know what it is.. :)

RE: towing advise needed

If its a gas coach I'd be a bit worried about weight. Car + Trailer + Golf Cart = ???
Don't over tax your power train and the amount of weight you can safely tow.

RE: Ford Transmission failure - have questions, need suggestions

Typical problem with Ford Transmissions, it's been a problem for years.
Really???
This a first for me... I have owned Ford truck products since I have been old enuff to sign a contract. 35 years and no Tranny problems... Even on the Damon...
Some good, some bad. I guess you have a bad one...
I had a GM and a Chrysler product that kept dropping trannys...
Check the Radiator... I bet there is Tranny fluid in it...

RE: Newb, Possibly buying an older Class A, Have a Q

Ahhh Grasshopper...
I'd have a mechanic go over it with a fine tooth comb. Wood and coverings can be easily fixed. I'd offer an RV mechanic to go as well. Lots of $$$ to repair/replace the the house components, i.e. H20 Pump, Fridge, A/C, 12V Converter goes bad...
6K is alot of $ to toss at a "Project". If you do, it will turn into a labor of love and a PITA...
Good luck and keep us posted... :)
If you are feeling handy, offer them 6K and see if they bite... It sounds like a leady widshield seal gone unattended for quite some time...
Its fixable...
Just be sure to check EVERYTHING!!! Smell the Tranny fluid. If it smells burnt... Its burnt... If its brown... Its burnt...
Check the engine oil... Is it sludgy???
How are the brakes?
